Children's Hospital Mapping Session 10.15.08

COCHLEAR IMPLANT PROGRAMMING REPORT

  • Audiologist: Jennifer M Harris, AuD, CCC-A

COCHLEAR IMPLANT DEVICE INFORMATION:

  • Internal device: Nucleus Contour CI24RE(CA)
  • Speech processor in use: Cochlear Freedom BTE
  • Ear/date of initial stimulation: Right (10/25/07), Left (9/16/08)

CURRENT SERVICES:

  • Early Intervention program: Enable & The Learing Center for the Deaf
  • Aural rehabilitation: Claire Miller, SLP
  • Other services/activities: Daycare at TLC

OBSERVATIONS SINCE LAST MAPPING:

  • Equipment: Li-Li still requests both processors together! She is already up to P4 on her new processor, which is a full dynamic range, something typically not reached until several months post-activation. Li-Li will also take off her processor or say “uh-oh!”  when her processor turns off.
  • Auditory perception/speech production: No problem with Ling sounds.  Substituting /h/ for /k/ (i.e. Li-Li says “cat” for “bat)

MAPPING SESSION (10/15/08):
EQUIPMENT CHECK:

  • Visual Inspection: OK
  • Listening Check: OK
  • Impedence Telemetry: OK

PROGRAMMING: Appropriate levels of stimulation were determined and the speech processor was reprogrammed accordingly, with any needed adjustments made for loudness comfort and for maximizing speech perception.

  • Response method for threshold levels: Conditioned Play
  • Response method for comfort levels: behavioral observation

The following maps (programs) were downloaded into the speech processor:
RIGHT:

  • PI (Map#36): Everyday Listening Program
  • P2 (Map#37): Noisy places (Autosensitivity)
  • P3 (Map#36): Everyday Listening Program
  • P4 (Map#38): Quiet places (ADRO+ Whisper)

PROGRAM NOTES: Volume Control: Disabled, Sensitivity Control: Disabled

LEFT:

  • PI (Map#32): Backup only (Old P4)
  • P2 (Map#34): Noisy places (AutoSensitivity)
  • P3 (Map#33): Everyday listening program (EDR;50CU)
  • P4 (Map#35): Quiet places (ADRO+ Whisper)

PROGRAM NOTES: Volume Control: Disabled, Sensitivity Control: Disabled

PLAN:

  • Return for reprogramming of the speech processor in 2 months. Appointments can be made through Sarah Thomas, program coordinator, at 781-216-2250
  • As always, I would appreciate an update from therapy providers regarding progress in developing auditory perception and speech production just before the next appointment.
