At 18.5 pounds, 28.5 inches tall, our little one-year-old is registering on the US growth charts, quite tall and a bit underweight for her age/demographic. Lots of milk, butter, veggies, congee and tofu for our girl should make her once more our little “pang pang” (sounds like pom pom) as she was known in China. She did very well, playing with John while being turned this way and that by the very kind Dr. Ching, her new pediatrician in Walpole. We’ve got referrals to a specialist at Children’s Hospital to evaluate her medical history / immunizations and her hearing, which — despite those now-cleared up bilateral ear infections — remains a question. For the time being, we don’t have to worry about Grendel waking the baby with her ear-splitting barking, but think of all the great music Li-Li’s missing right now (no Kate Bush, Elvis, Nina Simone, Johnny Cash, Iggy Pop, Frank Sinatra … ).I can’t wait to introduce everyone to our adorable, brilliant, delightful, mischievous little daughter, and to the howling werewolf she turns into every night between 11pm and 3 or 4am.
