Last night I chastised NPR’s Mixed Signals blog with a brief comment asking them to get a sense of humor because they had complained about Ken Jennings’ playful comments about Jeopardy! needing to shift its topics from opera and US history to the things America really cares about like reality shows, Playstation and the Arby’s value menu. And they had done so in very snarky, junior high school tones. I suggested a few more substantial stories they might get worked up about instead: PBS’ firing of a children’s show host after she revealed that she’d previously acted in a skit that parodied the abstinence movement, Hezbollah blogs taken down for “administrative purposes”, etc.. And I was on a tear because they hadn’t published my comment — what, NPR moderating commentary? But it’s now appeared! My faith is restored.
