5 am BANG

We woke up with a bang this morning, literally: after searching for the source of what sounded like a car hitting the side of our house at 5 am, we found that the newly “fixed” part of our hot water burner had blown clear across the basement. Our now-very-well-known oil burner guys are coming at some as yet undetermined time today to see if it can be fixed in a non-exploding way, this time. But I’m concerned about fumes and fires and all, and so working from home.

Labyrinth - HatfieldBut it’s all I can do to focus on the 100th anniversary of the fine establishment at which I work (and which affords me the flexibility to stay at home at the drop of a hat … or the bang of a burner) instead of running the dogs, cat and chickens through evacuation drills, compulsively cataloguing everything we own and evaluating the priority list (what goes in the cars in this situation).

Fortunately, being the freak I am, I’ve done all that before — just need to adapt the plans to the new Prius’s fancy hatchback and there is a new traffic pattern in the back bedroom …

No, no, back to work! Right after I move that ottoman out of the way.
