Tonight we can bring Ahab home from lovely North Grafton: as of today, he’s walking and taking care of basic functions like eating, drinking, taking care of business. He’s a bit swollen, but doing well without most of the drugs. He’s not in pain, but very sad to be in a cage and not parked in front of the fireplace on his own doggy mattress. So, based on the doctor’s advice, we’re fixing that.
A note of ’support’ from my little brother:
October 26:
Thanks for the Ahab update. I was up until 2:30am last night thinking about Ahab (and watching game 3 of the World Series). I heard through the grapevine (mom) that he (or she) had bone cancer. It is great that you are talking such good care of It.
I found a website that may be helpful to you: Animal Prosthetics. I realize that some people may think “why spend all this $$ on a dog”, but I think you should make Ahab feel like a normal dog as much as possible. If I had to do it all over again, I would have had Poopie frozen w/cryogenics and possibly considered cloning.
I hope Grundel won’t make fun of Ahab upon his return.
Dan
