Uplifting stuff on a Monday morning

From NPR’s This I Believe: August 1, 2005 ยท Four years ago, Jackie Lantry found herself in a Chinese hotel room with a terrified young boy. Today, her adopted son Luke is a happy member of her Massachusetts family, thanks to the power of love.

After hearing horror stories of documents going astray via FedEx shreddings, misapplied staples, misfilings, etc., we’ve collected nearly a full set of originals … just in case. New marriage certificates arrived today! Waiting on the China Consulate …

… and playing myself a mournful mix of old Eartha Kitt, Josephine Baker and Marlene Dietrich.

How much longer will it be? Auntie Jolie is very excited for the arrival of the wee one - I’m already preparing my year one tutorial “The Importance of Tiaras in Everyday Life”

    Hi,

I wrote the NPR essay about Luke. I suppose by this time you have gone to China and returned with your child. How is it going?
