Italian director Gabriele Salvatores (Mediterraneo) directs this engrossing suspense thriller involving a 10-year-old boy who lives in rural southern Italy. It is summertime, he discovers a hole in the ground, obscured by wheat, where a starving boy is chained and imprisoned, abducted by the adults in the village.What a revelation: in this film, boys are innocent children, not miniature adults with a sophisticated understanding of the motivations around them.
